National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology

National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) regulates courses on hospitality and hotel administration. There are 24 Institutes of Hotel Management and 7 Food Craft Institutes located in different parts of India through which these courses are imparted.

Academic courses offered by NCHMCT:

1. B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration: This is a three-year programme offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The course equips the students with the requisite skills to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector.

2. M.Sc. Hospitality Administration: This course is available at the IHM - Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. The course duration is 2 year and the eligibility for the course is B.Sc in H.M. or 3 yr Diploma in HM.

3. Post Graduate Diploma in Accommodation Operation and Management: The course duration is 18 months and the course is open to the graduates of any stream. The upper age limit for the admission to the course is 25 years, and the course is available at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi (Pusa), Gwalior, Hyderabad, Shimla, Thiruvananthapuram , and Faridabad (FCI).

4. Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Hospital Food Service: The course duration is 1year and the course is open to the graduates with Science or Bachelor in Home Sc. The upper age limit for the course is 25 years and the course is available at IHM - Chennai, Delhi (Pusa) and Mumbai.

5. Craftsmanship Course in Food Production: The course duration is 18 months and the course is open to 10th Class pass of 10+2. The upper age limit for the course is 22 year and the course is available at IHM - Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Goa, Gwalior Shimla, Delhi (Pusa), Thiruvananthapuram.

6. Craftsmanship Course in Food and Beverage Service: The course duration is 24 weeks and the course is open to 10th Class pass of 10+2. The upper age limit for the course is 22 year and the course is available at IHM - Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Goa, Shimla.

7. Certificate Course in Hotel and Catering Management: The course duration is 24 weeks and the course is open to those who have passed Class XII. The course is available at IHM - Mumbai, and Chennai.

8. Diploma in Food Production: The course duration is 18 months and the course is open to those who have passed Class XII. The upper age limit for the course is 22 year and the course is available at FCIs - Ajmer, Chandigarh, Darjeeling, Faridabad, Gangtok, Jodhpur, Udaipur.

9. Diploma in Food and Beverage Service: The course duration is 18 months and the course is open to those who have passed Class XII. The upper age limit for the course is 22 year and the course is available at FCIs - Ajmer, Chandigarh, Darjeeling, Faridabad, Gangtok, Jodhpur, Udaipur, IHM-Delhi.

10. Diploma in Front Office: The course duration is 18 months and the course is open to those who have passed Class XII. The upper age limit for the course is 22 year and the course is available at FCIs - Ajmer, Chandigarh, Darjeeling, Faridabad, Gangtok, Jodhpur, Udaipur.

11. Diploma in House Keeping: The course duration is 18 months and the course is open to those who have passed Class XII. The upper age limit for the course is 22 year and the course is available at FCIs Ajmer, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Jodhpur, Udaipur.

12. Diploma in Bakery and Confectionery: The course duration is 18 months and the course is open to those who have passed Class XII. The upper age limit for the course is 22 year and the course is available at FCI - Chandigarh, IHM- Delhi (Pusa).

Admission Criteria: Admissions to courses are made on the basis of an entrance examination. The written examination is of 3 hours duration and contains objective type questions. The pattern of examination is as follows:

One mark is awarded for each correct answer and half mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
