Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) Gwalior is one
of the premier institutes conducting tourism and travel management
related courses in India. IITTM was established at New Delhi in 1983
under Ministry of Tourism and Culture. Initially it was meant to serve
as a Human Resource Wing of the Ministry of Tourism. In 1992, IITTM was
shifted to Gwalior and it started Diploma in Tourism Management
Programme equivalent to Post Graduate programme. In 2000-01, the
institute expanded its academic programs and also started full time two
years MBA programme.
Academic Programs offered by IITTM Gwalior
Bachelor in Tourism Management Honors (BTM): This is a 3 year
full-time program. The program trains students for professional career
in Tourism Management. The program is open for 10+2 students from all
disciplines. Admission to the program is made through an Entrance
Examination held at selected centers all over India.
Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management (PGDTM): This is a
1year full time course for graduates from all disciplines. The program
equips students for careers in Travel and Tourism Management and Air
Cargo Management. Admission to the programme is made on the basis of
overall performance in the written examination followed by group
discussion and personal interview.
Master of Business Administration (MBA): This is a two year
full-time residential program approved by AICTE. The program is open to
graduates with a minimum of 50% marks.
Diploma in Travel and Tourism Industry Management (DTTIM): IITTM
offers 12 months part-time and 9 months full-time Diploma in Travel and
Tourism Industry Management programme. This program is offered through
IITTM's 5 chapters at DTTDC, New Delhi; ITM, Lucknow; IISWBM, Kolkata;
KITTS Thiruvananthapuram; and AIM Guwahati.
