Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata is an
autonomous academic institution under the Ministry of Information and
Broadcasting, Government of India. The institute was set up in 1995 to
provide the latest education and technological experience in the art and
technique of film making.
Academic Courses Offered by SRFTI Calcutta
Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute offers 3-years PG Diploma
course in (1) Direction & Screenplay, (2) Motion Picture
Photography, (3) Editing, and (4) Audiography (Sound Recording). The
institute also invites famous film personalities to hold workshops,
seminars etc. on various aspects of film production including Direction,
Cinematography, Editing and Sound Recording.
Admission Procedure
For admission to (1) Direction & Screenplay, (2) Motion Picture
Photography, and (3) Editing a candidate must be Graduate in any
discipline. For admission to Audiography, the candidate must be Graduate
in any discipline with Physics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level.
Admissions are made on the basis of an entrance examination. The
entrance exam consists of two stages: (1) Written Examination, and (2)
Interactive Orientation Session & Viva Voce (for those qualifying in
the written examination). The written examination consists of two papers
to be answered in English.
Paper I: General Knowledge & Mental Aptitude (Duration: 1 hour)
Paper II: Specific Area Aptitude (Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes)
Candidates qualifying the written examination are called for an
Interactive Orientation Session & Viva Voce, which is conducted at
the Institute's campus. The candidates are required to stay in the
Institute campus for 5-6 days for the Interactive Orientation Session
and Viva Voce.
