XAT 2014 Examination Pattern

XAT is considered as one of the most competitive entrance tests in the field of management education. The admission test is conducted for students seeking admission in postgraduate level degree and diploma programmes in the field of management. The entrance test is conducted by Xavier Labour Relations Institute, also popular as XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur. Apart from XLRI, other major management institutes in India also offer admission to the candidates in above said courses, on the basis of XAT score.

Examination Pattern for XLRI XAT 2014
The question paper pattern of Xavier Admission Test (XAT) 2014 can be divided into two parts - objective type questions and essay writing.

Objective Type Questions
In this part, candidates have to choose correct answer out of given four options of a question.
All the questions asked in this part are divided into three categories:
Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability questions
Quantitative Ability, Reasoning and Data Interpretation
General Knowledge

  • Candidates are required to answer all the questions of each category within 40 minutes duration.
  • For each wrong answer, one-third mark will be deducted of the candidate.

Essay Writing
After attempting the first part of XAT 2014, candidates have to write an essay on any given topic. The essay should be written between 250 and 300 words and must be completed within 20 minutes duration.
