Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, every year conducts Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE) for admission into undergraduate programs in various disciplines including Medical, Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, Dental, and Nursing, Agriculture, Homeopathy, Forestry, and Fisheries Sc, and Veterinary Sc, programs. The entrance examination is the pre-requisite condition to seek admission in numerous Government, Government Aided and Private Professional Colleges (self-financing colleges) across the state.
Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE) consists of questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics subjects of 10+2 level.
Questions from physics are from following topics- Thermodynamics, Measurement and Units, Wave Motion, Alternating Current Circuits, Radiation, Harmonic Motion, Modern Physics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Magnetic Field, and Electronics.
Syllabus of chemistry includes the study of- Atom, Chemical Equilibrium and Ionic Equillibria, Chemical Kinetics, nuclear chemistry, properties and reactions of alkanes, alkenes and alkynes, Transition elements (3d series), Ores and minerals, non-metals and compounds, and Hybridisation of carbon, Sigma and pi-bonds.
Algebra, Arithmetic, Logarithms, Induction, Complex Numbers, Matrices, calculus, Quadratic Equations, Co-ordinate Geometry, Sets and Relations, Trigonometry, Parabola, Hyperbola, Circle, Ellipse and Conics.
Syllabus of biology comprises- Genetics, Mutation, Human evolution, Taxonomy, Concept of Biodiversity, Ecosystem, Microscopy, Evolution of Human, Chromosomes and Cell Division, Plant Kingdom, Photosynthesis, Cardiac cycle, Blood pressure and Respiratory system.
