Examination Pattern for OPENMAT Exam



Every year, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) conducts an all-India entrance test, referred to as OPENMAT, for admission into its various postgraduate distance-learning management programs including Master of Business Administration, Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Operations Management, and Marketing Management and with an exception of Diploma in Management program.
 
Examination Pattern
OPENMAT Entrance Examination is held twice a year most probably in the month of February and August. The candidates, who qualify the entrance examination, are eligible to take admission into Management Program in any of the two subsequent semesters.  
 
The entrance examination consists of 200 objective-type questions with multiple options. The test is divided into the following four sections.
 
  • Section I comprises of 30 questions on General Awareness.
  • Section II includes 50 questions on English Language
  • Section III consists of 50 questions on Quantitative Aptitude
  • Section IV includes 70 questions on Reasoning
 
Every correct answer fetches one mark and there is no negative marking for any wrong answers. The candidates are required to mark correct answer in separate OMR sheet. In case they think none of the four options as correct, they have to mark ‘O’. Duration of entrance examination is three hours in a single-sitting.
