Examination Pattern for NIFT Entrance Exam



National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), entrance examination is mandatory for admission into bachelor’s of Accessory Designing, Fashion Communication, Fashion Designing, Knitwear Designing, Leather Designing, Textile Designing and Apparel Production program along with masters of Design, Fashion Management, and Fashion Technology program. The entrance examination is conducted every year by the institute.
 
Examination Pattern
The students applying for Designing programs at undergraduate as well as at postgraduate level have to undergo written test consisting two parts-General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT).
 
The General Ability Test (GAT) includes questions under the sub-heading Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Business Domain Test (only for Bachelor program in Design) and Analytical Ability while the Creative Ability Test (CAT) contains questions to test the skill, power of observation, innovation and design ability of the candidate. Usage of color and illustration by the aspirant plays a significant role.
 
The candidates, who want to seek admission in Fashion Technology, Apparel Production and Fashion Management program will appear in the written exam comprising two parts-General Ability Test (GAT) and Managerial Ability Test (MAT). General Ability Test (GAT) will include questions to check the Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability and General Knowledge & Current Affairs of the candidates.
 
Managerial Ability Test (MAT) is conducted to test the managerial effectiveness and interpersonal skills of the candidates. The test consists of a case study, Business Domain Test and Logical Ability.
 
0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer in objective type questions. 
 
Besides, in order to seek admission in undergraduate designing programs, the candidates are required to appear in separate Situation Test. Weight age of 20% is given to Situation Test. Group Discussion & Interview is conducted for admission into postgraduate programs. Equal weight age of 10% is given to both.
