Examination Pattern for IIT Madras HSEE



Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) conducts Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE), every year. The admission seekers, who want to get enrolled into five-year integrated postgraduate courses of the institute, have to appear in the entrance test. The institute conducts entrance test at its test centers in various cities of India.
 
Examination Pattern
Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) is purposefully designed for preparing students in the relevant field. HSEE Entrance Test is divided into two parts: part one and part two. Final selection of the candidates is decided on the basis of their performances in both these papers. The examination pattern for each part is given below.
 
HSEE Exam - Part One
  • The question paper consists of objective-type questions. The candidates have to choose correct answer out of four given options.
  • All the questions are expected to be answered by the candidates within two and a half hours, which is the duration of the program.
  • The paper comprises of English and Comprehension skill, Analytical and Quantitative ability and General Knowledge type questions.
  • The medium of all the questions and instructions in the paper is English only.
 
HSEE Exam – Part Two
After completing part one of HSEE Entrance Test, the candidates have to write an essay on any given topic, which is also in English medium. They must write the essay within half-an-hour.
