NIT Trichy

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy is one of the top engineering colleges of India. The institute was formerly known as Regional Engineering College Tiruchirappalli. It was started in 1964 as a joint and co-operative venture of Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu. In 2003, the college was granted the status of Deemed University and was renamed as National Institute of Technology Trichy.

NIT Trichy offers 4-year B.Tech programs in Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Production Engineering. Candidates for B.Tech programs are selected on the basis of the performance in AIEEE.

NIT Trichy offers 2-year M.Tech programs in Structural Engineering, Water Resources Engineering & Management, Transportation Engineering & Management, Energy Engineering, Plant Design, Process Controls & Instrumentation, and Power Systems.

Besides the above programs, NIT Trichy also offers 3-year MCA program and 2-year M.Sc programs in Operations Research & Computer Applications, VSLI Systems, Communication Systems, Process Control and Instrumentation, Welding Engineering, Materials Science, and Manufacturing Technology
