NIT Rourkela

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela is one of the top engineering institutions of India. NIT Rourkela is spread over an area of 262 hectares. It was established in 1961 as a joint undertaking of Government of India and Government of Orissa. The institute was formerly known as Regional Engineering College Rourkela. In 2002, it was accorded the status of Deemed University and was renamed as National Institute of Technology Rourkela.

Academic courses offered by NIT Rourkela are:

B.Tech: NIT Rourkela offers 4-year B.Tech programs in Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, and Mining Engineering. Admissions to B.Tech programs are made on the basis of performance in AIEEE.

M.Tech: NIT Rourkela offers 2-year M.Tech programs in Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering (Coal Chemicals and Fertilizers), Civil Engineering (Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering, Structural Engineering), Computer Science and Engineering. (Computer Science), Electrical Engineering (Power Control and Drives), Electronics and Communication Engineering (Telematics & Signal Processing, VLSI Design & Embedded System), Mechanical Engineering (Machine Design & Analysis, Production Engineering, Thermal Engineering), Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, and Mining Engineering. Admissions to the M.Tech programs are made on the basis of performance in GATE.

Masters in Computer Application (MCA): A candidate seeking admission to MCA should be graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks. Selection is strictly based on NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NMCET).
