NIT Kurukshetra

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra is one of the premier engineering colleges of India. The institute was earlier known as Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra. NIT Kurukshetra was established as a joint enterprise of the State and Central Governments. The institute was accorded the status of Deemed University on June 26, 2002 and was renamed as National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra.

NIT Kurukshetra started functioning in its present campus at Kurukshetra in 1965-66 with an intake of 120 students. Presently, the annual intake of NIT Kurukshetra in various undergraduate courses is 327.

Various academic courses offered by NIT Kurukshetra are:

Undergraduate Programs: NIT Kurukshetra offers 4-year B.Tech. Degree Programs in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Computer Engineering. Candidates are admitted on the basis of their performance in AIEEE conducted by CBSE. Fifty per cent seats in the undergraduate programs are reserved for candidates from Haryana.

Postgraduate Programs: NIT Kurukshetra offers 2-year M.Tech Programs in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Power System, Control System), Civil Engineering (Soil Mechanics, Structures, Water Resources), and Instrumentation Engineering. M. Tech. Admissions are made on the basis of performance in GATE. Five seats in each course are reserved for Industry sponsored candidates.
