NIT Jamshedpur

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur is one of the premier engineering institutes of India. The institute was founded in 1960 and was formerly known as Regional Engineering College Jamshedpur. NIT Jamshedpur is among the earliest eight Regional Engineering Colleges that were established as joint ventures between the Government of India and State Governments. On April 1, 2003, the Central Government took over the institute, accorded it the status of Deemed University and renamed the institute as National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur.

NIT Jamshedpur is spread over a campus of 320 acres. The institutes has following departments: Applied Mechanics, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Applications, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics and Humanities, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering. and Material Science, Physics, and Production Engineering & Management.

NIT Jamshedpur offers 4-year B. Tech. Courses in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science, and Production Engineering & Management. Selection for B.Tech courses is done on the basis of performance in AIEEE.

NIT Jamshedpur offers 2-year M. Tech. Courses in Extractive Metallurgy (Met. Engg. & Mat. Sc. Deptt.), Foundry Technology (Met. Engg. & Mat Sc. Deptt.), Power System (Electrical Engg.' Deptt.), Computer Integrated Design and Manufacturing (Mechanical Engg. Deptt.), and Surface Science & Engineering. (Chemistry Deptt.). Selection for M. Tech. courses is done on the basis of performance in GATE.

MCA: NIT Jamshedpur offers 3 year full time MCA course. Selection is done on the basis of the performance in NIMCET.

Besides the above programs, NIT Jamshedpur offers Ph.D. programs in various branches of engineering.
