NIT Jalandhar

National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NITJ) youngest amongst the eighteen NITs of the country. The institute is also known as Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology. NIT Jalandhar was established in the year 1987 as Regional Engineering College. The institute was given the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) in 2002.

NIT Jalandhar has following Departments: Chemical & Bio Chemical & Bio Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Leather Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Textile Technology, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, and Humanities & Management.

NIT Jalandhar offers BTech program in nine disciplines of Engineering and Technology along with research programs leading to MTech and PhD. The institute admits 50% of students from the State of Punjab and the rest from other states/union territories of the country.

NIT Jalandhar offers 4-year B. Tech course in Chemical & Bio Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Leather Technology, Textile Technology, Structural Engineering & Construction Management, and Industrial Engineering. Admissions to B. Tech courses are made on the basis of All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) and admissions to M. Tech courses are made on the basis of performance in GATE.
