NIT Durgapur

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Durgapur is one of the premier engineering institutes of India. The institute was formerly known as the Regional Engineering College, Durgapur and was established by an Act of Parliament in 1960 as one of the eight such colleges. In 2002, the institute was accorded the status of Deemed University and was renamed as NIT Durgapur.

NIT Durgapur is spread over a campus of 187 acres. The institute offers B.Tech., M.C.A., M.B.A., M.Tech. and Ph.D. programs. A total of 520 students are selected for B.Tech programs. NIT Durgapur offers 4-year B.Tech program in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. NIT Durgapur selects candidates for B.Tech programs on the basis of AIEEE rankings.

NIT Durgapur offers 2-year M.Tech Degree programs in the following disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering), Computer Science & Engineering (Information Technology), Electronics & Communication Engineering (Telecommunication Engineering), Electrical Engineering (Industrial Electrical Systems), Mechanical Engineering (Design & Production Engineering), Metallurgical & Materials Engineering (Industrial Metallurgy), Metallurgical & Materials Engineering (Physical Metallurgy), Chemistry ( Corrosion Science & Technology), Mathematics (OR in Industry & Business Management), and Physics (Advanced Materials Science & Technology). For full-time courses, candidates have to qualify GATE, conducted by IITs. They also have to appear for interview/viva-voce for final selection. Non-GATE candidates for full-time courses will be selected through college admission test (written/interview).

NIT Durgapur also offers MBA and MCA programs.
