Here is some useful information on IIT CEED.



IIT CEED

CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) is a qualifying examination for admission to Post Graduate M.Des. programmes at the various Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. CEED is conducted by IIT, Bombay, on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Education, Government of India.

Masters in Design (M.Des) programmes offered at IITs and IIS Bangalore are:
  • IIS Bangalore: M.Des. in Product Design and Engineering
  • IIT Bombay: M.Des. in Industrial Design, M.Des. in Visual Communication, and Ph.D in Design.
  • IIT Delhi: M.Des in Inter disciplinary Industrial Design
  • IIT Kanpur: M.Des in Design
Eligibility: In general, a candidate must have completed 10+2+4 years of study or higher. But different institutes have different criteria for admission, these are:

M.Des. in Product Design and Engineering, IIS Bangalore: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture.

M.Des. in Industrial Design, IIT Bombay: Minimum 55% of marks in Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design Professional Diploma of CEPT (5 year programme)/ Interior Design Degree (4 years) after 10+2 / Diploma (5 years) programme after 10+2/ Professional Diploma of NID.

M.Des. in Visual Communication, IIT Bombay: Minimum 55% of marks in Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design Professional Diploma of CEPT (5 year programme)/ Interior Design Degree (4 years) after 10+2 / Diploma (5 years) programme after 10+2/ Professional Diploma of NID/ BFA (professional course in Applied Art/ Fine Art)/ GD Art (5 year professional programme).

M.Des. in Inter disciplinary Industrial Design Programme, IIT Delhi: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering (any branch) or Architecture.

M.Des. in Design Programme, IIT Kanpur: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture.

CEED qualification in itself does not guarantee admission to the above mentioned programmes. In addition to CEED, candidates also have to fulfill other requirements such as tests and interviews of the respective institutions for admission. There is no age limit and candidates can appear in CEED any number of times.

IIT CEED Test Pattern: The examination tests the candidates for visual perception ability, drawing skills, design aptitude and communication skills. The duration of the test is about one and half hours. Importance is given to the following: Problem Analysis, Creativity, Alternate Concepts, Justifications for Solutions and Visual and Textual Presentation Skills.
