Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) is one of the top engineering
colleges of India. Delhi College of Engineering was established in 1940
to cater the needs of Indian Industries for trained manpower with
practical experience and sound theoretical knowledge. At that time the
college was known as Delhi Polytechnic and offered courses in (1) Arts
(2) Architecture (3) Commerce (4) Engineering (5) Applied Science
(Chemical Engineering & Technology) (6) Textiles. All-India
Certificate, All-India Diploma, Senior Diploma and Advanced Diploma were
awarded to the students. The National Diploma awarded by the Delhi
Polytechnic was considered equivalent to B.E. Degree by the then UPSC.
Academic Programs offered by Delhi College of Engineering are:
BE Courses: Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication
Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Information Technology,
Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science and Chemical Technology, and
Production and Industrial Engineering. Admissions to B.E courses in
Delhi College of Engineering are done on the basis of Combined Entrance
Examination (CEE). The Combined Entrance Examination is conducted by
University of Delhi only for the Delhi Category seats (85%). For the
Outside Delhi Quota Seats (15%) admissions are made through AIEEE.
B.Tech (Part Time): 4-year B.Tech programs are offered in Civil
Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Candidates seeking admission to
the programme must have passed 3-year Engineering Diploma and must be
employed. Candidates are admitted on the basis of B. Tech. Entrance
Examination.
M.E: Programs offered in M.E. are Civil Engineering (Structural
Engineering, Environmental Engineering), Electronics & Communication
Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Control & Instrumentation,
Power Apparatus & System), Mechanical Engineering (Thermal
Engineering, Production Engineering), Polymer Technology, and Computer
Technology & Applications.
M.Sc. Programme: Delhi College of Engineering offers M.Sc. 3
year (Part-time) Programme in Applied Physics.
