The Birla Institute of Technology Ranchi (BIT Ranchi) was established
in 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi, by the famous industrialist Mr. B M Birla. BIT
Ranchi has been accorded the status of Deemed University. BIT Ranchi
ranks among the premier technical institutes of India and has several
firsts to its credit.
BIT Ranchi was the first Institute to establish a Department of Space
Engineering & Rocketry in the year 1964. BIT Ranchi became the first
technical University to establish overseas extension centers in the year
2000. It is one of the few Universities to be accorded a Super Computer
at the core of its ultramodern IT infrastructure.
Academic Programmes offered by BIT Ranchi are:
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.): BIT Ranchi conducts 4-year B.E.
programs in Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science,
Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication
Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer
Engineering, Production Engineering. Candidates are admitted based on
their performance in AIEEE.
Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.): BIT Ranchi offers 5 year
B.Arch program. Candidates are admitted based on their performance in
AIEEE.
Bachelor of Pharmaceutical (B.Pharm.): The Institute offers
4-year B.Pharm program. Candidates are admitted based on their
performance in AIEEE or AIPMT.
Master of Engineering (M.E.): BIT Ranchi offers 2-year M.E.
programs in Automation Manufacturing System, Civil Engineering (Soil
Mechanics & Foundation Engineering, Structural Engineering),
Computer Aided Analysis & Design (CAAD), Electrical &
Electronics (Control System, Power System), Electronics &
Communication Engineering (Microwave Engineering, Instrumentation &
Control), Mechanical Engineering (Heat Power, Design of Mechanical
Equipment), Polymer Engineering, Quality Engineering Management, Space
