St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore is one of
the oldest educational institutions, giving knowledge and churning out
great students year after year since the past 126 years now. It is one
of the oldest colleges of the state.
The St. Joseph's College, Bangalore was established by the French
Fathers of the Foreign Mission in the year 1882. However, the college
was handed over to a catholic religious order in the year 1937 and
finally came into being in the year 1972. The main aim of the college is
to emphasize on both academic excellence as well as character formation
of a student.
It stands proudly today and commands a place of priority in the field
of education. The St. Joseph's College, coupled with all its sister
institutions, namely the St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, the
St.Joseph’s Evening College, St.Joseph's Boy's High School and
the St. Joseph’s Indian High School exemplifies years of
tradition. The St. Joseph's College, Bangalore has more than 5000
students in its rolls, assisted by over 150 staff members.
The St. Joseph College, Bangalore is accredited by the National
Assessment and Accreditation Council. The college was declared as a
college of potential excellence by the University Grants Commission or
the UGC, New Delhi in the year 2004. Apart from St.Joseph's College,
Bangalore, only 47 other colleges in the whole country has this
privilege. It has also been declared as an autonomous
college by the Karnataka Government in the year 2005 after it examined
the academic level of the college thoroughly.
The St. Joseph's College, Bangalore provides many facilities to the
students for his/her all round development. It has also been ranked as
the best college in Karnataka by a survey conducted by the India Today
Group. The college is affiliated to the Bangalore University.

Eligibility
All students who have obtained a minimum of 50 percent marks in their
PUC examination are eligible to apply for a course in St.Joseph's
College, Bangalore. The student must have a PUC certificate issued by
the Board of Pre-University Education, Government of Karnataka or
equivalent from other authorized Boards such as CBSE/ICSE, etc.
Admission
The student must fill the application form carefully and register it
personally at the college office. Registration by post is also
permitted. The last date for the registration is generally put up on the
College Notice Board. Three days after the PUC results, the first list
is announced. The applicant should enclose the following in their
application:
- Certificate or photocopy of the PUC marks card
- Xerox copy of caste certificate in Form 1 for SC/ST students
issued by Tahsildar or Social Welfare Officer
- OBCs too should submit their certificates
- For applicants who are from ICSE/CBSE background, copy of
Eligibility Certificate from the PUC Board, Karnataka is required.
