Advertising plays a critical role in marketing of their products. Advertising is one of the aspects of mass communication .It helps to create demand, promote marketing system and boost economic growth. Thus advertising forms the basis of marketing. Course Details
Eligibility for most of the advertising postgraduate courses is graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 50 percent marks. Admission to most of these courses is based on an entrance exam and/or interview. Some colleges also offer BA courses in advertising, for which they need students who have cleared class XII. There are also specialized courses in advertising/mass communication at diploma level and post graduate level for which basic qualification is graduation. In addition there are also certificate courses for which 10+2 is enough.

Career Prospects
Advertising as a profession is a general term, which includes numerous professions. There are several kinds of advertising jobs in a wide variety of areas. Career options are plenty with Advertising Agencies. Similarly, job opportunities are there with the advertising departments of Companies, with the media, in Public Relations, TV Software Production etc. You can find a job as a Copy Writer, Art Director/Visualiser, Account Executive/Account Manager, or as Account Planner in advertising agencies. Advertising professionals also can find employment in media including press, TV, radio, exhibitions and anything, which can be used to carry an advertising message. Many Government departments also recruit advertising professional. They can also work as part/full time freelancer in several agencies. Many advertising professionals start their own agencies as it does not require much capital to start an advertising agency.

Remuneration
Career in advertising brings attractive remuneration and perquisites. Job position and earnings in advertising agency vary with its size and turnover. Fresh graduates can start with a salary of Rs. 9,000 - 15,000 per month. While those with MBAs and professional training in advertising can get salaries ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 per month. Salary of a successful advertising person you can be around 30,000 to 50,000 per month depending on the advertising agency or company. In a few years down the line, you may expect to earn more than 2.5 lakhs per annum and even there is more scope for improvement.
